Hiroshima vs Shandong Luneng
In the first match of group F Sanfrece Hiroshima hosts Shandong Luneng. Also in the group are Seoul and Buriram and it is expected this group will be very tight. Hiroshima is definitely the favorite in this match but the Chinese football is growing every year and the visitors are not without chances. Especially since they already took a win here in 2010.
Hiroshima is the J league winner and has been playing on a high level for seasons now. They didn`t play the Champions League last year and in the year before they were eliminated by the later winers Western City Wanderers in 8`th finals. Shandong Luneng had to play two qualification rounds to reach the group stage and beat Mohun Bagan by 6:0 and Adelaide 1:2. Shandong is an interesting team that finished third in the CSL last season. They pride themselves on attacking football and they averaged even 3.57 goals last season in the league which put them on top of that table. Only 7 of their 30 league matches finished under 2.5 goals. Shandong doesn`t have many foreigners but the Argentinian Montillo and the Brazilians Jucilei, Aloisio and the biggest name Diego Tardelli. Still they enhance the game substantialy and even in the Champions League Shandong Luneng plays attractive football. They were eliminated in the group stage last season finishing third but their games were full of goals. Actually 5 goals per game. Luneng has played 12 of their last 13 ACL matches over the 2.5 goal line.
